ACTIVITY PROFILE

The Equal Opportunity Cell (SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/Minorities Cell) in Manonmaniam Sundaranar University was constituted by the University on 21st June 2002. This cell functions for the welfare of the SC/ST/OBC/ Minorities students of the University and Affiliated Colleges. The Cell takes the responsibility in the improvement of overall performance of the SC/ST/ OBC/ Minorities students in the competitive examinations so as to bring them up to the expected competitive level as compared to other Communities. The Cell also provides assistance to the students in the matter of admission to various courses of studies, to ensure effective implementation of the reservation policies.

ADMINISTRATION

          To encourage the creative activities of Equal Opportunity Cell, Vice-Chancellor is kind enough to appoint the following posts with financial assistance from the University Grants Commission.

(1) Coordinator 

(2) Deputy Coordinator

(3) Two Lower division Clerks 

TRAINING PROGRAMMES

          The following training programmes were conducted by the Cell, The classes are held in Saturdays and Sundays.

Ø       Coaching Classes  for IAS/IPS aspirants

Ø       Coaching Classes  for TNPSC Group I,II,III & IV Examinations

Ø       Coaching Classes  for Banking Service Recruitment Board Examinations

Ø       Coaching Classes  National Eligibility Test (NET) / State level Eligibility Test for lectureship (SET)

Ø       Remedial coaching or special coaching has been providing special inputs for the University department students in areas where the students experience difficulties.

KNOWLEDGE CENTRE

          The Equal Opportunity Cell has a Book Bank with the sufficient number of Books for all the competitive Examinations. The students can make use of it in all the days of the

week. The Internet Centre had twelve computers with Internet connection. The centre is equipped with Laptops, LCD Projector, Audio Systems, Inverter and Copier.

          The Equal Opportunity Cell functions as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the Grievances of SC/ST/OBC/ Minorities students and employees of the university and renders them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems. The Equal Opportunity Cell is issuing a circulars related to Scholarship from UGC for SC/ST/OBC/ Minorities Students every academic year. It is also helps the SC/ST/OBC/ Minorities categories to integrate with the mainstream of the university community and to remove difficulties, which they may be experiencing. The Cell also organizes interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems.
